Zapier's page now organises around two things: plan tier and task allowance. Free is $0 with 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps but unlimited Zaps, Tables and Forms. Professional starts at $19.99 a month and adds multi-step Zaps, unlimited Premium apps, webhooks, AI fields and, from the 2,000-task tier upwards, live chat support. Team starts at $69 a month with 25 users, shared Zaps, folders and app connections, SAML SSO and priority support. Enterprise is quoted. Task allowances are selectable from 100 a month through 750, 1.5K, 2K, 5K, 10K, 20K, 50K, 100K and beyond, with a stated 33% saving for paying yearly, and Zapier notes that AI steps, code and its SDK follow the same task-based model.
TL;DR
Zapier prices by tasks and by tier: Free covers 100 tasks a month, Professional starts at $19.99 a month for multi-step Zaps and webhooks, Team starts at $69 a month for 25 users with SAML SSO, and task allowances run from 100 up to millions with a 33% saving for paying yearly. n8n prices by workflow executions instead: Starter is 20€ a month billed annually for 2.5K executions with unlimited users, Pro is 50€ a month for 10K executions, Business is 667€ a month for 40K executions on self-hosted, and Enterprise is quoted. The structural difference is that n8n includes unlimited users on every cloud plan and bills a whole workflow run, while Zapier bills tasks and charges for collaboration at the Team tier.
n8n prices executions instead of steps and includes unlimited users on every cloud tier. Starter is 20€ per month billed annually with 2.5K workflow executions, one shared project, five concurrent executions, unlimited users, 2,300 AI credits a month and forum support. Pro is 50€ per month billed annually with 10K executions, three shared projects, 20 concurrent executions, seven days of insights, up to 13,700 AI credits a month, admin roles, global variables and execution search. Business is 667€ per month billed annually, self-hosted only, with 40K executions, six shared projects, SSO, SAML and LDAP, 30 days of insights, different environments, Git version control and scaling options. Enterprise is quoted and adds unlimited projects, 200+ concurrent executions, 365 days of insights, log streaming and an SLA. A self-hosted Community Edition is available on GitHub, and companies under 20 employees can apply for 50% off Business.
The economics turn on what a unit of work is. n8n states plainly that it bills full executions rather than each step or each user, so a workflow with fifty steps costs one execution. Zapier bills tasks, and the tier ladder goes high for a reason: heavy multi-step automation consumes tasks quickly, and collaboration beyond a single seat requires the Team tier at $69 a month. Against that, Zapier's free tier is a genuinely usable 100 tasks a month with two-step Zaps, while n8n's cheapest cloud plan is 20€ a month with no permanently free cloud tier, only the self-hosted Community Edition. Choose by counting executions rather than steps, and by whether the number of people who touch the automation is large.

Pick Zapier if
Zapier is the easier starting point and the more granular purchase. Free costs nothing and includes 100 tasks a month with unlimited Zaps, Tables and Forms, Professional at $19.99 a month unlocks multi-step Zaps, unlimited Premium apps and webhooks, and Team at $69 a month adds 25 users with SAML SSO and shared connections. The task allowance can then be dialled from 100 a month up through 100K and beyond, with 33% off for paying yearly. The two things to weigh are that tasks, not runs, are the unit, so long multi-step Zaps are expensive, and that collaboration starts at the $69 Team tier rather than anywhere below it.
Pick n8n if
n8n is the better fit when workflows are long, when many people need access, or when self-hosting is a requirement. Starter is 20€ per month billed annually for 2.5K executions with unlimited users, Pro is 50€ for 10K executions with 20 concurrent runs and up to 13,700 AI credits a month, Business is 667€ for 40K executions with SSO, SAML, LDAP, Git version control and environments, and Enterprise is quoted. The pricing logic is stated on the page: full executions, not steps and not users. That makes the bill predictable for complex workflows, and the free self-hosted Community Edition means the software itself costs nothing if you supply the server. The trade is that there is no permanently free hosted tier and AI credits do not roll over.
Neither Zapier nor n8n publishes third-party review data we are willing to restate as fact, and we did not run either product. Every figure here comes from the two vendors' own pricing pages as published when this comparison was written. The lists headed 'vendor-published claims' are the vendors' own statements, not user reviews.
It depends on the unit you consume. Zapier Professional starts at $19.99 a month for tasks, with Team at $69 a month once you need multiple users, while n8n Starter is 20€ a month billed annually with unlimited users and 2.5K executions. For a small team with modest volume they land near each other; for many users running long workflows, n8n's unlimited users and per-execution billing usually price lower.
Zapier bills tasks, and a multi-step Zap consumes tasks per run, so complexity raises cost. n8n bills workflow executions and states that it charges for full executions rather than each step, so a fifty-step workflow costs one execution. That single difference drives most of the cost gap between the two.
Zapier offers a free plan at $0 with 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps and unlimited Zaps, Tables and Forms. n8n has no permanently free cloud plan, but the Community Edition is self-hosted and free on GitHub, with a 14-day style free trial available on the hosted tiers.
Zapier lists a single seat on Free and Professional, 25 users on Team at $69 a month, and unlimited users on Enterprise. n8n includes unlimited users on every plan, including Starter at 20€ a month billed annually, so adding colleagues does not change the tier.
n8n bundles AI credits per plan: 2,300 a month on Starter and up to 13,700 on Pro, capped monthly and non-rolling, with additional credits not currently purchasable. Zapier states that AI steps, code and its SDK follow the same task-based pricing model, so AI usage draws on the task allowance you already bought rather than a separate credit pool.
Zapier, generally. Its free tier is a working starting point with two-step Zaps, the Professional tier at $19.99 a month unlocks multi-step automation and webhooks, and every plan includes the full platform of Zap workflows, Forms and Tables. n8n has a strong editor but its cheapest hosted plan is a paid one, and the free option requires running the Community Edition yourself.
